Descrizione

The California 32 is a stunning classic wooden sloop, measuring 14 meters in length and 3.30 meters in width. It was built in May 1937 by Fellows and Stewart, based on the naval architect Nicholas Potter's plans, also known as the "Herreshoff of the West." The boat is equipped with a 37 kW Perkins engine.

The California 32 is renowned for being a formidable racer and a comfortable cruiser designed for sailing along the Pacific coast. Eight of these sloops were built between the 1930s and the 1960s, often featured in West Coast U.S. boating press.

Key features of this sailboat include its overall elegance, sleek lines, and the authenticity and excellence of its original construction. The maneuvering performance during regattas is also noteworthy, as evidenced by the successive victories of seven out of eight California 32s at the prestigious "Sir Thomas Lipton Cup" regattas organized by the San Diego Yacht Club from 1948 to 1964.

The California 32 features a salon with two straight-facing benches, a central drop-leaf varnished wooden table, storage furniture, a kitchen equipped with a stove, refrigerator, and sink, as well as cabinets. There are also toilet compartments with a pump toilet and sink.

Apart from periodic renewal and compliance interventions, the boat remains in its original configuration, making it even more authentic and unique. In summary, the California 32 is a legendary sailboat that combines aesthetics with high-level performance.
